Prayer Is Power!
At the beginning of 2006 I partook in a 40 day prayer and fast. During this time I was commuting approximately 200 miles round trip to work. Along my route there were billboards with seductive women on them. One was an advertisement for a popular restaurant where women wear skimpy apparel. The other billboards were advertisements for a popular whiskey. I realized these had been there for the previous year, but it wasn't until then through prayer that I realized how destructive adds like these are. It became evident how adds like those billboards can take your mind to a place that is adulterous and sinful. I became angered and started praying against those billboards every day I drove by them. One week later the billboard for the restaurant was removed. I thought to myself that it could be God, but it was probably just coincidence. How little my faith was. The next week one of the whiskey billboards was removed. Hmmm.... maybe its not a coincidence. I started to have faith that God was doing something and answering my prayers. I then started having visions of not only praying these billboards down, but using them to spread the Gospel. I continued praying and fasting for the next week and then the third billboard I was targetting in prayer was removed. I knew without a doubt that God was in control, but what about the visions He was giving me, the visions of a billboard ministry?
Two days after the third billboard disappeared was the last day of the 40 day prayer and fast which was Friday. My family and I planned to get together for dinner that night which led me on a different route home from work. On this different path I drove by another one of those whiskey adds. I felt the Holy Spirit leading me into prayer, "Dear God, if you truly want me to head up this ministry then please remove this billboard". I felt the power of God flowing through me as I prayed, and I was convinced that God was in control and would clearly give me direction.
Sunday began the next week and also was the start of revival services at our church every night for two weeks. That Monday & Tuesday I was unable to drive by the billboard, but I still prayed against it and for God's direction in ministry. Wednesday I was able to drive past it on my way home from work and on my way to church. As I approached it my heart started racing and I felt the flooding warmth of the Holy Spirit. I knew before I even saw with my eyes that it was gone. I came up over a hill where it would come into sight and it had been removed! I was bouncing off the walls, well doors of my truck. I just kept praising God for his goodness. You want to know something, God has a sense of humor. I was so excited I just had to call somebody. I picked up my phone to call my wife or my friend and as I tried to dial I realized I had no service. I said to God, "that's not funny!!!", but he made me laugh. The joy that was in my heart was amazing. I felt like I was having a burning bush experience, God was speaking to little 'ol me.
Through the following months I prayed heavily for God's direction. Initially "MY" plan was to have a billboard that said "JESUS, DIED FOR YOU, SAVED YOU, www.DoYouLoveJesus.com", but I learned in 1 Corinthians 1:18 "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." I then realized through a series of teachings by Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron that the way to reach people is through the law. This is 100% biblical. The focus of my billboards and website address shifted to the website you're at today. The banner you see at the top of this page is the initial vision of a billboard revealed to me.
